Jakarta, August 2025 — The Home of The Falcons Auditorium was filled with empathy and determination as Nizamia Andalusia educators gathered for a two-day workshop on August 26-27, 2025. The session, titled "Standing Up, Speaking Out: Teachers Leading Anti-Bullying Action", was led by Ibu Hanlie Muliani, a Child, Teen, and Educational Psychologist known for her expertise in child development and safe learning environments.
With her warm and engaging approach, Ibu Hanlie invited participants to explore the deeper roots and emotional consequences of bullying. She emphasized that bullying is not merely about visible aggression — it can take many subtle forms that wound a child's confidence and sense of belonging. "Bullying often begins in silence", she shared, "and it's our job as educators to break that silence — with empathy, with awareness, and with action".
Over the course of the workshop, participants engaged in interactive activities, roleplay scenarios, and reflective discussions that challenged them to think beyond disciplinary responses. They practiced how to identify early signs of bullying, how to respond with empathy rather than punishment, and how to build classroom environments grounded in respect, trust, and inclusion. Teachers learned the importance of transforming themselves from mere observers into upstanders — adults who speak out and act decisively when they witness injustice or unkindness.
The sessions also encouraged teachers to draw from real classroom experiences. Through open sharing, participants reflected on the challenges they've faced in managing student conflicts and the strategies that have worked in building positive relationships. As insights deepened, the room transformed into a space of mutual learning — where teachers not only found practical tools but also strength in solidarity.
Adding a meaningful layer to the experience, students were also present during parts of the session. Their stories, reflections, and perspectives brought real voices to the discussion — reminding everyone that anti-bullying education is not only about policy or intervention, but about listening deeply to the children we serve. Every smile, every listening moment, and every act of empathy becomes part of the invisible fabric that holds a school community together. Ibu Desni reflected, "We often teach children to be brave, but today we were reminded that teachers, too, must be brave — brave enough to listen, to speak up, and to stand for what is right".
Through initiatives like this, Nizamia Andalusia School continues to uphold its mission of building a community where kindness and courage go hand in hand — where every student learns in an environment that celebrates respect, compassion, and inclusion. This commitment reflects the school's ongoing effort to empower educators as agents of change — teachers who teach not only with their intellect, but with their humanity. Because in every classroom that practices empathy, and in every teacher who chooses to stand up, a safer and more compassionate future begins to take shape.
