Jakarta, November 2025 -- On Saturday, 1 November 2025, the Auditorium of Nizamia Andalusia Primary School was buzzing with energy as over 100 teachers from all levels gathered to explore ways to teach more meaningfully and effectively. The workshop, "Unlocking Classroom Potential: From Lesson Plans to Life Skills", marked a significant step in Nizamia Andalusia School's commitment to cultivating a living culture of literacy in every classroom. The focus went beyond reading and writing, emphasizing literacy as a foundation for critical, creative, and contextual thinking across all subjects.
Ibu Galih Sulistyaningra, Literacy Advocate and CEO of Smartick Indonesia, served as the keynote speaker. She encouraged participants to view literacy as a bridge between knowledge and real-life application, emphasizing that students should develop skills to analyze, understand, and use information effectively.
Through her interactive and practical approach, Ibu Galih highlighted the importance of numeracy literacy across the curriculum. When integrated meaningfully, literacy and numeracy equip students to solve problems logically, think reflectively, and engage with learning in a more analytical way.
Teachers actively shared their classroom experiences and best practices, reinforcing a central idea: literacy is the pathway to relevant, life-ready learning. "I now see that every lesson plan is an opportunity to teach life skills, not just subject content", said Bapak Ahmad, Grade 6 Coordinator at Nizamia Andalusia Primary School (NAPS). The workshop guided educators to embed literacy and numeracy in daily lesson plans, ensuring that every activity becomes an opportunity to cultivate values, build character, and prepare students to face life with resilience and wisdom.
By the end of the session, teachers expressed a renewed sense of purpose and motivation. Many noted that integrating literacy and numeracy across all subjects not only enhances student's academic understanding but also prepares them for real-life challenges, fostering resilience, critical thinking, and ethical decision-making.
The event underscored Nizamia Andalusia School's ongoing commitment to developing reflective, innovative, and collaborative educators—teachers who continually grow, so their students can dream big, think critically, and thrive in the 21st century.
