Jakarta, October 15–16, 2026 — The Student Council (OSIS) of Nizamia Andalusia Middle School successfully organized Spirit Week: Mahakarya Sastra on Thursday and Friday, October 15–16, 2026. Held as part of the school's Language Month celebration, the event provided a platform for students to express their creativity, develop their talents, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the Indonesian language, literature, arts, and culture.
Carrying the theme “Mahakarya Sastra,” the event was designed to appreciate students' hard work and dedication following their midterm examinations. Through a variety of educational activities and competitions, Spirit Week aimed to create an enjoyable learning experience while encouraging students to explore their potential, showcase their abilities with confidence, and engage in healthy competition.
Throughout the two-day event, students participated in a range of competitions combining language skills, literary expression, creativity, arts, and sports. The language and literature competitions included Storytelling, Word Scramble, Poetry Writing, and Poetry Reading. Each competition offered students opportunities to enhance their communication skills, expand their vocabulary, express ideas through writing, and convey messages and emotions through literary performances.
In the Storytelling competition, participants were challenged to narrate an Indonesian legend in Bahasa Indonesia for five minutes without reading from a script. This competition encouraged students to develop their storytelling abilities, pronunciation, expression, creativity, and self-confidence. Meanwhile, Word Scramble tested students' ability to rearrange letters into meaningful Indonesian words, strengthening their vocabulary, accuracy, and quick-thinking skills.

Literary creativity also took center stage through the Poetry Writing competition, which carried the theme of Nusantara. Participants were encouraged to express their ideas, imagination, and appreciation for Indonesia's rich cultural heritage through poetry. In the Poetry Reading competition, students brought poetry to life through interpretation, expression, intonation, and overall performance. These competitions highlighted the importance of language and literature not only as tools for communication but also as meaningful ways to express thoughts, emotions, and appreciation for the nation's cultural identity.
Beyond language and literature, Spirit Week: Mahakarya Sastra also featured various sports and arts competitions. Futsal, Giant Volleyball, and Tug of War provided opportunities for students to demonstrate teamwork, strategy, agility, and sportsmanship. Meanwhile, the Coloring competition allowed students to explore their artistic creativity by coloring batik illustrations, encouraging them to appreciate one of Indonesia's distinctive cultural heritages.
The diversity of activities reflected the understanding that every student possesses unique strengths and talents that can be nurtured through different learning experiences. Some students showcased their abilities in language and literary expression, while others demonstrated their strengths through teamwork, sports, or artistic creativity. Each competition provided a space for students to participate actively, explore their interests, and build self-confidence.
More than just a series of competitions, Spirit Week: Mahakarya Sastra also served as an opportunity to strengthen friendships and foster unity among students. By encouraging teamwork, mutual respect, and sportsmanship, the event reinforced the importance of personal growth and collaboration beyond the classroom. It also highlighted the active role of the Nizamia Andalusia Middle School Student Council in creating meaningful student experiences and fostering a positive school environment.
Through Spirit Week: Mahakarya Sastra, the Student Council of Nizamia Andalusia Middle School reinforces its commitment to creating meaningful student experiences while inspiring students to explore their talents, express their ideas with confidence, and appreciate Indonesia's rich linguistic and cultural heritage. By fostering creativity, collaboration, and sportsmanship, the event reflects the school's dedication to nurturing a generation that is confident, well-rounded, and ready to embrace future challenges.
